The National Labour Commission (NLC) established under the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) invites qualified candidates for employment at its various Secretariats.

 

 

JOB TITLE: Asst. Administrative and HR Officer

JOB PURPOSE

To assist in effective management and administration for the delivery of Commission’s

Services.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage office supplies
  • Prepare regular reports as assigned
  • Maintain and update Commission’s databases
  • Organize a filing system for important and confidential documents
  • Answer queries by employees and clients
  • Maintain a calendar and schedule appointments
  • Book meeting rooms as required
  • Distribute and store correspondence (e.g. letters, emails and packages)
  • Prepare reports and presentations with statistical data, as assigned
  • Arrange travel and accommodations
  • Schedule in-house and external events
  • Effective implementation of human resource policies and programmes

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1st Degree from a Tertiary institution in Business Management, Administration, HRM or any of the Social Sciences or relevant field.
  • At least one year’s working experience in same or similar field
  • Evidence of completion of National Service

COMPETENCIES

  • Solid knowledge of office procedures
  • Experience with office management software like MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically)
  • Strong organization skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a wide
  • degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Excellent communicator, both spoken and written
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Thrives working both independently (a self-starter) and collaboratively

JOB TITLE: Secretary

JOB PURPOSE

To provide Secretarial and Administrative support services.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle visitors and clients of the Commission
  • Answer telephones and respond to inquiries via telephone or email
  • Book meeting rooms, set up conference calls and take messages and minutes writing
  • Perform administrative tasks, including typing, filing and photocopying
  • Draft emails, memos and letters
  • Assist in the development and implementation of office procedures and record systems

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • HND or Diploma in Secretaryship from a recognized Tertiary Institution or
  • Certificate in Secretaryship from Government Secretarial School
  • Minimum of one (1) year post-qualification relevant work experience

JOB TITLE: Administrative Assistant

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the Commission

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Develop and maintain a filing system
  • Maintain office supplies
  • Provide general support to visitors
  • Provide information by answering queries as assigned
  • Handles correspondence as assigned
  • Run official errands
  • Operate the photocopier and binding machines

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • HND, Diploma or Secretaryship from a recognized Tertiary Institution.
  • Minimum of one (1) year post-qualification relevant work experience

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to effectively communicate via phone and email
  • Ability to ensure that all Administrative Assistant duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner.
  • Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written
  • Proficiency in English Language
  • Customer Service skills with pleasant and friendly personality
  • Work to with minimum supervision

JOB TITLE: Driver

 

JOB PURPOSE

To operate vehicle and transport officials

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Practicing safe driving habits
  • Following all national safety regulations and standards
  • Accurately following routes, maps and directions

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The prospective candidate must possess any of the following qualifications:

  • Certificate in Mechanics or Technician
  • Driving Certificate from a Driving School
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License organization
  • Must have at least two years’ working experience driving in a corporate
  • Must pass a selection interview

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Good communication skills in English Language – verbal and written
  • Must follow prescribed or prearranged routes to destination
  • Must be able to use maps and GPS to navigate routes
  • Must be able to maintain vehicle
  • Team Player
